What you really need

I know it gets hard to take
That stomach sick feeling
That you can't shake
Holding it together
When it wants to break
And what you really need is

I know it seems hard to choose
Either which way you lose
Your heart of ice
Won't heal that bruise
And what you really need is

What you really need is (x4)

What are you waiting for
Pick yourself up and
Close the door
Took one hit now you're
Back for more
And what you really need is

What you really need is (x4)

I know what you need
You know what you need
I got what you need
You got what you need

What you really need is (x4)

Your lonely heart
Has an axe to grind
Slicing at the knots
Of the ties that bind
Pretty soon you'll see
That love is blind
And what you really need is

What you really need is (x4)

[Grant, O God, that we lie down in peace and raise us up, our Guardian to life renewed. Spread over us the shelter of Your peace. Guide us with Your good counsel; for Your Name's sake, be our help. Defend us against enemies, illness, war, famine, and sorrow. Distance us from wrongdoing.  Shield and shelter us beneath the shadow of Your wings. For You, God, watch over us and deliver us. For You, God, are gracious and merciful. Guard our going and coming, to life and to peace, evermore. Blessed are You, Adonai, whose shelter of peace is spread over us over all Your people Israel, and over Jerusalem.

These Things Will Happen

These things will happen
It's the illusion of control
These things will happen
And it's a struggle for my soul

Everybody loves and dies and tries
And questions and demands
We all nurture and we doubt
And we struggle to let love win out

Lakol z'man v'eit l'chol cheifetz tachat hashamayim

["To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven" -- Ecclesiastes 3:1]

These things will happen
It's the illusion of control
These things will happen
And it's a struggle for my soul

It's easy to believe that time
Will pass us by and never leave a mark
We fool ourselves that God won't play
With loaded dice

Lakol z'man v'eit l'chol cheifetz tachat hashamayim

These things will happen
It's the illusion of control
These things will happen
And it's a struggle for my soul

These things will happen

Blessed be God's great name to all eternity.

Blessed, praised, honored, exalted, extolled, glorified, adored, and lauded be the name of the Holy Blessed One, beyond all earthly words and songs of blessing, praise, and comfort. To which we say Amen.

[You revealed Yourself to Your holy people at Mount Sinai amid clouds of glory. Your voice was heard in a mist of purity. The whole world trembled before You, all creation stood in awe, when You, our Sovereign, manifested Your presence to teach Your people Torah and mitzvot. Out of flaming fire, amid peals of thunder and flashes of lightning, amid blasts of the Shofar, You enabled them to hear Your divine words.

Thus it is written in Your Torah: “On the third day, as morning dawned, there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud upon the mountain and the might blast of the Shofar; everyone in the camp trembled.”

“The sound of the Shofar grew louder and louder. Moses spoke and God answered him.”

“As all the people witnessed the thunder and lightning, the sound of the Shofar and the mountain smoking, they trembled and stood at a distance.”

And so the Psalmist sang: “God ascended with the sound of the Shofar, the piercing cry of the Shofar.” “With trumpets and Shofar acclaim our Sovereign, the Lord.”

“Sound the Shofar on the New Moon, at the time appointed for our New Year. Its observance is a law for Israel, ordained by the God of Jacob.” As it is said.
